More talks on www.TEDxUNPlaza.com Mona Mourshed has led engagements across the world in Asia, Europe, South America, the Middle East, and the United States, supporting school systems and vocational higher-education institutions to improve students' skills, their chances of finding jobs, and their day-to-day lives. Her most recent work, focused on youth unemployment, is unlocking the global conundrum of high levels of joblessness among young people and a shortage of job seekers with critical skills. In order to tackle this looming global issue, Mona has assisted in the design, implementation, and reforming of strategies to improve student outcomes in schools; one program nearly doubling literacy rates to 86 percent at the primary-school level in four years. Solutions to Unemployment: http://fundly.com/entrepreneurhives | Unemployment is simple to understand. It's when we have way too many EMPLOYEES and not enough EMPLOYERS. Period. Guess what causes that. Our schools, both public and private, are Fantastic at preparing students to enter the workforce... as EMPLOYEES. But they SUCK at preparing anyone to be EMPLOYERS. So, for every 97 people the schools graduate prepared to take jobs, they graduate only 3 who will create jobs. So, that means, for every entrepreneur that graduates, they must hire and keep employed until retirement, 32 people. (97 / 3 = 32.33). Unfortunately, America's businesses employ on average only 16 people - only half! No Wonder we struggle with unemployment on an ongoing basis! There is a solution. And ...

I created a short summary of my "Technological Unemployment Solutions" video. I tried to summarize the idea in as short a video as possible. I made this video last year to ask economists to draw up more detailed plans in case automation shrinks the available jobs humans can do as some have feared. I noticed a disconnect between what tech experts where saying, and what many economists were saying when it came to the rapid and world changing obsolescence of human workers.
